A reader sent me an email tonight asking what I do for my bottom when it is red and sore after a spanking. Since I don’t think I’ve specifically covered the topic here, I thought I’d answer with a post.
Rubbing: It can help reduce the tingling sensation, but more often than not I do it just to feel the amazing amount of heat my scorched cheeks are generating.
Lotion: Lotion helps to keep my skin soft and hydrated after long spankings or ones that involve wooden implements. I don’t like using it right afterwards though as I find it really stings the sensitive skin. Instead of being soothing, it actually adds to the punishment.
Arnica: I haven’t experienced significant results in using arnica, but when I need to be free of marks as soon as possible, I use it as it’s certainly not going to hurt. I do have to be careful to stick with the tablets and cream formula as I’m allergic to something in the gel. No need to add insult to injury (literally) and be itchy and ouchy.
Ice: After very severe spankings I’ll apply a bag of ice to my upturned cheeks and have even tried sitting on a large ice pack on my drive back home following a shoot. It really helps to reduce the swelling and pain. In a pinch, any cool surface will do. I’ve been known to rest my punished buns against the cool body surface of a car or take a seat in the snow.
Massage: The day after a hard spanking, the surface sting will have subsided, but the deep down muscle soreness really sets in. A loving bum massage from my boyfriend is the nicest of all methods of tending to my punished backside.
Neosporin Plus: Although broken skin isn’t something I aim for, it does happen from time to time. Usually it’s more that a couple of the top layers of skin have worn away, but on rare occasions I’ve had the skin actually open up. In either case I use Neosporin Plus to help heal, prevent infection, and reduce scarring. I don’t find that it does much in the way of pain relief despite the label’s claims, but it definitely speeds up the healing process.
Any other bottom soothing techniques you’d recommend?

Well, the final total for the Cause for Paws is in and I am absolutely thrilled. Together we have raised $1,115 for the shelter! Amazing! Thank you so much to everyone that participated and contributed to the cause. Beyond everyone’s generosity, I was also touched by the sweet notes, emails, and cards that were sent in along with the donations. I’m saving them all in my keepsake box.
